What causes Elbow pain ?

There are many causes of elbow pain. Despite the common belief, most pain at the elbow can be a referred pain from the neck due to cervical spondylosis. With that being said, it is also relatively common to get an actual elbow sprain from sporting activities such as golf, badminton, tennis, and also heavy lifting.

Natural History

Elbow pain can be triggered during a sporting activity or sudden movements that put excessive pressure on the elbow. As mentioned above, it could be a nerve pain triggered by a neck sprain from a sports event too. The pain can be sharp and intense in the initial stages and gradually decrease over time. It is important to note that it is easier to re-injure or sprain the damaged joint repeatedly if left untreated. The joint will deteriorate and bone spur might develop as time goes by.

As the name suggests, most people get elbow injuries while doing extreme sports or repetitive sports such as racket sports, golf, heavy lifting, etc. Most sports demand a lot from them which may lead to a sprain if not careful.
